Financial market history tells us to expect the unexpected; expect to be surprised.  And positive surprises happen too.  Last year was a tragic one, yet global stocks were up over 16%.  In this latest edition of my Quarterly Investment letter I see the current momentum in the market continuing, but it is not without it's risks.  And I'm beginning to see the headwinds of recent portfolio performance turning into a sustained trend.........[See More]

How your advisor is compensated does matter.  Lately there has been a blurring of the lines with the use of the term “Fee-Based” to describe how one is compensated.  I’ll tell you why Fee-Based is not Fee-Only and the difference can be substantial: [See More]

Investment Management

Many clients opt to retain Bogue Asset Management LLC for Investment Management Services.  These services are broader, deeper in scope and have a more enhanced reach than our financial planning format.

Investment Management Services include the following:

- Coordinating all the paperwork necessary to help you open accounts, create systematic deposit/withdrawals and transfer accounts, directly working on your behalf with the brokerage firm to make sure this process goes smoothly.
- Determining the cost basis of taxable accounts and keeping track of this cost basis moving forward, as well as taxable gains and losses.
- Implementing all transactions within the accounts on behalf of our clients and help facilitating the deposit/withdrawal process including required minimum distributions.
- Coordinating this with the financial planning process if clients opt to engage our financial planning services on an ongoing basis.  This allows us to coordinate your investment strategy with your goals: lowering risk when you don’t need to take the risk and increasing risk only when it’s necessary.
- Ongoing monitoring of the portfolio so that it remains on target and utilizing a disciplined process to rebalance if and when necessary
- Maximizing tax loss harvesting opportunities if they should arise,
- Implementing risk managed strategies as part of a more comprehensive asset allocation or as a stand alone strategy.
- Employing safeguards that protect you from a Bernie Madoff situation.
- Coordinating all your accounts –individually held, employer based or both so that the entire portfolio is coordinated and going in the same direction.

An Investment Policy Statement is created which outlines the investment management procedures to be used for the assets under management.  Putting this in writing helps protect the Investor from either party making impromptu investment decisions that are inconsistent with prudent investment management principles.

For our client’s equity allocation needs, we have access to funds from Dimensional Fund Advisors (DFA).  DFA’s strategy is to maximize the benefits of equity investing through the findings of academic research, consistency, trade engineering and low costs.

We have access to institutional class shares of mutual funds that predominately cost less and have lower minimums that shares available in a retail format.

We recognize that you may have other assets outside of our management.  Bogue Asset Management LLC will take these assets into consideration when managing your portfolio so they are coordinated with your goals.
